Dr. John Thompson is a Senior Surgeon at Melanoma Institute Australia (formerly the Sydney Melanoma Unit), one of the largest melanoma treatment and research centres in the world. He is involved in many aspects of translational and clinical melanoma research, and has published widely on melanoma-related topics. He is chairman of the working party that produced the Australian and New Zealand Clinical Practice Guidelines for the Management of Cutaneous Melanoma. He is Emeritus Professor of Melanoma and Surgical Oncology, The University of Sydney, and the Past-President of the International Sentinel Node Society.
